Ivette Zavarce, one of our board members, was recently honored with the Veretta and Jesse E. Rider Sr. Leadership Award for Community Impact by the Empowerment Community Development Corporation in Tyler, Texas. The ECDC “engage in community development activities that provide resources to educate, equip, and empower individuals, families & communities.

The award is named after Veretta and Jesse Rider, a a resilient couple who have contributed significantly to the Tyler community and dedicated themselves to uplifting others through their impactful work in construction and community service.

A native of Venezuela, Ms. Zavarce has served as the multicultural marketing coordinator for Brookshire’s and contributed to various nonprofits, including the Smith County Children’s Advocacy Center and The Mentoring Alliance. She also serves on the board of the CVLI. Since 2020, she has been a part of Fuzion Radio under the Encouragement Media Group.
